Project 5: yet again

Basically, I'm planning on doing a live action D&D game. I'm going to find a place and grid it (basically turn it into squares of movement most likely 5'x5'). After this, I will transpose the gridded area onto a paper map.

There will be two groups of people for this project: Players and Characters.

I'm still a bit hazy on the specifics or if I'm even going to actually do this.

*EDIT*

Ignore this post.

Blogging/internet

I don't really read blogs. Pretty much I only read the things my friends post and even then I ignore more than half of them.

I do think that the internet is highly participatory, however I don't believe that participation has the same effect as face to face human interaction.

Project 5?

I'm not exactly sure what I want to do for this project. I can't really think of anything.

Maybe something to do with Dungeons and Dragons in real life. In other words, translating the rule systems of D&D and applying them to real life for a short period of time. This could be done using a house or some area that can be gridded into defined spaces. There would be Players and Characters...

Project 4: Final

META-TEXT

For this project, I wanted to look into the idea of random or rather what is and isn't random. To start with I asked all my friends to tell me what song(s) enter their head randomly durring the day. I got a number of songs and more than a few comments about the quality of the songs. I then took all of the songs and put them into a single file folder. After this I used Audacity, randomly selecting songs, cutting them up, and mixing them together linerally.

After this I spent the next week just listening to my friends and taking notes when ever they would say something randomly. Using this, I then found pictures, clips, or just plain wrote out the words. I did this independently of the music so that I wouldn't try to link up the two.

From this I noticed some interesting things. Many of the songs naturally flow into one another making the music almost seamless. The best place to point this out is when a song by Cascada goes into a song by O-Zone and it seems natural. There are also points where the song and video link up. The best place this is found is when 'Frank Sinatra' turns into 'I Set My Friends On Fire' which is a scremo band and at the same time a picture of the iconic scene from Red Dawn appears.

Sitting back and looking at this brings about the question, what is random? Or maybe even better, can randomness exist? Even with out a pattern in mind, a pattern still arises. Is it possible that subconsciously I remembered the song and made the movie to match? Honestly I can't really answer any of these questions, they just made me think.

About project 4

So, the basic idea behind my blog is the random. I asked my friends for songs that repeatedly run through their heads, then I took as many as I could, chopped them up, and mixed them into a single song. Out of about 25 songs I think I've included 10. Next I wrote down all the random things my friends have said over a two week period, took the oddest, and the best and made a movie stating those phrases combining them with pictures or video if able. I did the two independently of each other.

I'm not sure where my project stands currently. I'm in a state of limbo really.
